Opening Devotion – Colossians 3:12-17

12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, hold and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.  14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.  15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.  And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.          17 And whatever you do, in word and deed, do everything om the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Our takeaway from this devotion is that as we continue with the process there will be push back from people, but we must remember that our unity comes from Christ. Our goal is to bring to the congregation what we are planning and be willing to accept criticism and change to the plan.

  1. Final Congregational Meeting – Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Noon – 1:30 pm

       2. Developing New Mission Statement

We looked at several versions of the mission statement we had been working on at our last meeting.  Several people also shared additional mission statements that they had worked on. After some discussion it was decided that some of the longer statements would be more appropriate for vision statements.  (See agenda item #4)

After some word massaging the group agreed on the following mission statement:

BLC’s mission is to share God’s Word with His community.

With GOD as our focus/center of all that we do, we revisited the basic ministry areas of the church:

        3. Developing Vision Statement from the Mission Statement

The following statements are preliminary statements that could be used for our vision statement.

  • BLC is united together and equipped by God to speak his truth in Love while serving those placed before us within our local communities.
  • God tells us to be fishers of men.  AS stewards of our faith, we at BLC,  are casting the net of God’s grace to support your spiritual path and know of Jesus’ promise of eternal life.
