National Food Bank Day

Lewiston Church Annual Food Drive Challenge

Why wait for 1 day out of the year to think about our local food banks?
Most people like to eat multiple times a day, every day.
Lewiston Community Sharing helps feed our local residents without support from the government. It is people like you that keeps the food bank open.
Every Sunday in September it is encouraged for each family to bring 1 non-perishable food item and place it in the donation box in the Narthex.
We are encouraging the churches in Lewiston to join in on a friendly challenge to see who can collect the most in the month of September.
Lewiston Community Sharing is a Christian Based- Organization owned by Lewiston Churches (Bethlehem Lutheran, St. Francis Catholic and UCC Congregational). The non-profit was established in 1984. This non-profit is completely funded by generous people and organizations who donate money, food, and other items. Please do not believe the myth that our local community sharing receives funds from the government for food, gas or other assistance provided. With the help of volunteers who sort, clean and stock shelves they would not be able to provide this wonderful service to families in the Johannesburg- Lewiston School District. While volunteers are working with a smile in the buildings, there is a person who lists some of the more valuable items for sale on eBay or Poshmark, another that applies to organizations and foundations for donations to purchase non-donated items. To help keep the clothing fresh they work with a couple of different Michigan non-profit organizations and trade clothing.
If you have never been to the Community Sharing Building, I encourage you to visit. The Free Store and LaBoutique Resale Shop are open Wednesdays 10am-6pm and Saturday 10am-1pm. The food pantry is open the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month 10am-1pm.
If you would like to volunteer or have a monetary donation, please contact Deb Sansone.
